About Nurse Practitioner Dr. Demetra E Williams Adams
Demetra is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Demetra founded Mental Health Wellness LLC in 2022 in Honolulu, Hawaii and expanded the practice to Southlake, Texas in 2023. Using an Evidence-Based Practice approach, Demetra employs both psychopharmacology treatments and psychotherapies to assist patients with mental health conditions and achieving and maintaining Mental Health Wellness.

Demetra earned the degree of Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse practicing in Hawaii, Texas, and California. Demetra provides telemedicine appointments in all three states and in-office appointments in Southlake, TX. Demetra is accepting patients 6 years of age through adulthood.

Experience
As a Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Demetra has experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute & chronic psychiatric mental illness with psychotherapy & medication management with frequent evaluation for effectiveness and overall mental health wellness.
Demetra has extensive experience working with school-age children and teenagers. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Demetra worked with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing depression, general and social anxiety, ADHD symptoms, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorder, and grief. Demetra has experience working with children and adolescents struggling with problematic classroom behaviors and cognitive disorders. Prior to her career as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Demetra worked as a Registered Nurse on Critical Care Units (ICU, Emergency Dept, Perioperative) at Magnet-designated hospitals, the gold-standard for nursing practice and innovation. Demetra has several volunteer years of experience in child therapy with the State of Texas and worked as a High School teacher for 12 years before beginning her career in healthcare.
Education and Certifications
Demetra earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Brandman University in Irvine, California in 2020, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health. Demetra also has a Master of Science degree in Social Work and 3 bachelor’s degrees in Nursing, Social Work, and Criminology from the University of Texas. Demetra has a board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Registered Nurse (RN) in 3 states, Hawaii, Texas, and California. Demetra is also licensed as an LMSW in the State of Texas.
